There, he worked in both the voluntary and statutory sectors, as a rural youth worker, inner city detached worker, centre manager and youth action leader. He was also an assistant practice manager at a local NHS GP surgery. He left the county in 1999 to pursue full time youth work training at Leicester's De Montfort University, finishing with a first class honours degree in 2002. He is a locum youth worker, adult tutor and researcher for statutory and voluntary organisations throughout Leicester, and founded Student Youth Work Online in 1999. In 2002, he will begin studying towards a doctorate in social sciences.

In his spare time, Jason enjoys partying (usually clubbing or pubbing), mixing records, playing the piano, reading and writing, and can normally be found enjoying a good coffee in town.
